Would it be stupid to create a semi-fantasy medieval world?

I want to make a medieval story.. It looks like a european based place but its not in europe or anywhere in the world but i don't know how would it work out because i want to add a bit of fantasy like demi-gods and make my own diseases and guilds and blah blah blha but would anyone read it? :(
