Good punishment for shipmates ?

Im going out sailing with some mates for a couple of months. We dont really have a captain so we work kind of in a democratic way. Now what are good punishments if someone is a lazy *** or asshole. Hang him upside down in the mast for a while ? Some light physical punishment, that might be a bit funny. Nothing medieval like with whips or something.
