What was medieval life like in baghdad?

No idea, but I do know that there was little left of the City after the Mongols had gone through it in January or February 1256. At that time the City had some 800,000 population and refused to surrender. So they tricked them into believeing that some action was taking place else-where not far from the City gates. The plan worked, the majority of the City's defenders went out to meet that threat only to discover that it had been a diversion but too late. Nobody from that army survived to tell that tale and the City was taken by force after which over a period of a week or so all its inhabitants were ruthlessly murdered.
